Job Description

The South India Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of AFWA’s vision and work in Southern India and will report to the South Asia Coordinator and AFWA International Secretariat. ‌AFWA encourages applications ‌from persons with diverse identities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, strengthen, and expand alliance building in South India
  • Maintain strong relations and good communication practices with partners in South India
  • Coordinate project implementation through partners.
  • Provide support to strengthen partners’ work in training, research, advocacy, and campaign
  • Travel to partner field areas on a regular basis; accompany partners in the field as needed
  • Identify new potential partners to expand membership and collaborative efforts
  • Support partners in handling global supply chain-related labour rights violations that fall within AFWA’s expertise
  • Coordinate and assist in the development and implementation of trainings and research
  • Conduct documentation as needed; prepare briefs, reports, and presentations
  • Monitor deliverables and expenses for the work assigned; write reports as and when necessary
  • Contribute to AFWA’s campaigns and projects; communication and social media presence
  • Collaborate with partners in South India
  • Work within the AFWA team and perform other relevant duties as required by supervisors
  • Assist with fundraising and outreach, as needed

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree (development studies, public policy, labour studies) or equivalent
  • At least four years experience working /volunteering with labour rights or human rights organizations
  • Comfortable with travel; and interest in field visits and fieldwork as needed
  • Strong understanding of labour rights and economic justice in a global context
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently within agreed framework
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse people
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Fluency in Kannada
  • Ability to maintain focus in a multifarious work environment; comfortable with deadlines and field obligations
  • Experience in research and writing on labour rights and global supply chains; and knowledge of labour movement, a plus.

Salary Range: 6,00,000 INR per year or commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance and net/telephone allowance.
