Worker Rights in Crisis: Support Relief Efforts in Sri Lanka

Garment workers across Sri Lanka are now facing the immediate fallout of Cyclone Ditwah, with their homes flooded, sanitation and water facilities disrupted, and entire areas cut off by rising water. Many have been evacuated to temporary safer locations, often suddenly, and without certainty about when they can return home or safely resume their lives. Some factories are partially submerged, while some suppliers demanded attendance even during red-alert conditions, placing workers in abject danger.

Garment workers in Sri Lanka now face a huge humanitarian emergency. When factories close with no guarantee of income, when commutes become impossible, and when families are moved to temporary locations with only what they can carry, every day without wages is a day they run the risk of no food, medicine, or stability.

The people who keep global supply chains running now need material support to survive the days and weeks ahead.

Your contribution will directly strengthen the efforts of those supporting evacuated workers, workers stranded in flooded areas, and those who have lost income because they cannot safely reach factories. Donations help ensure that workers and their families have access to food, water, and medicine while they navigate dangerous conditions, factory closures, and the uncertainty of returning home. Where employers have failed to meet even the minimum responsibilities to the people who produce their profits – your solidarity and support become a lifeline.

Donate today to support urgent relief efforts for affected workers and families.
