Victory for the Justice for Jeyasre campaign as landmark agreement signed to end gender-based violence and harassment at Natchi Apparels, Dindigul
The Justice for Jeyasre Campaign was launched to pay tribute to the life of Jeyasre Kathiravel – an Indian Dalit woman garment worker and union member organizing against gender-based violence and harassment at a major Indian garment manufacturer that supplies to American and European fashion brands – who faced months of sexual harassment by her supervisor before she was murdered in January 2021. The J4J campaign saw a victory on April 1, 2022, when the historic Dindigul Agreement to Eliminate Gender-Based Violence and Harassment was signed at Eastman Exports, Natchi Apparels.
