We are honored to receive the 2022 Gwynne Skinner Human Rights Award from the International Corporate Accountability Roundtable (ICAR) with Tamil Nadu Textile and Common Labour Union (TTCU) and the Global Labor Justice – International Labor Rights Forum (GLJ-ILRF) as labor partners to the landmark Dindigul Agreement to end gender-based violence & harassment on global garment supply chains.

The Gwynne Skinner Human Rights Award recognizes the work of individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution to corporate accountability. We are honored and proud to have been named a co-recipient of this important award.

The Dindigul Agreement is a victory for the Asian garment labor movement. It shows that transformation, social justice and progress, are possible even in the harshest of conditions. It shows that worker organizing and solidarity not only has the potential to change workplaces – but also homes and communities, addressing issues of gender, caste, migrant rights and sexuality.

More importantly, the  Justice for Jeyasre campaign and the Dindigul Agreement shows that even in the face of deepening inequalities and structural discrimination, hope and radical change are possible, when workers and citizens build alliances beyond borders, reimagining workplaces and societies.

We believe the award is a profound recognition of the efforts of the thousands of feminists and women’s rights defenders like Jeyasre, many of whom have lost their lives, trying to create better worlds for all of us. This award is a note of hope and inspiration for the millions of Asian garment workers and their unions, that their struggles for decent work, living wages and a violence-free workplace, are heard and seen by people around the world.

We thank all our friends and allies, who have stood with us as we campaigned the last two years for #JusticeforJeyasre. We promise to continue to build worker power and solidarity in the garment industry.
