Myanmar Can’t Wait: Support
Earthquake Relief Efforts in Myanmar

Stand in solidarity with Myanmar.

Every donation you make helps provide critical relief supplies, food, and medical care for earthquake survivors, including workers, activists, and their families—some of whom face additional risks, with reports emerging of activists being arrested while assisting with aid delivery. We at Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA) are supporting our partners on the ground who are driving relief operations.

A Devastating Crisis Demands Urgent Action

A devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025, causing catastrophic damage with over 4,000 deaths, over 6,500 injured, and countless others still trapped beneath the rubble. The epicenter was just 16 km northwest of Sagaing, near Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city.

The Situation Is Critical

  • 80% of Sagaing City has been destroyed
  • Mandalay City reports 600+ deaths with widespread structural collapse
  • Industrial zones in Pyigyitagon and Kyaukse, where garment workers live, are severely affected
  • No heavy machinery available – rescue efforts are being done manually
  • Survivors are sleeping outside with limited access to clean water and food
  • Limited electricity (only 4 hours per day even in Yangon)

Crisis Made Worse: Military Junta Blocking Aid

The military junta’s response has been actively harmful. They are blocking life-saving assistance from reaching hardest-hit regions like Sagaing, barring international rescue teams, and diverting aid to loyalists.

Most Urgent Needs

Medical support and rescue services are the highest priority. Many areas lack resources for effective search and rescue operations. With hundreds injured and some regions completely cut off, immediate medical care is critical.

Access to clean water, food, and temporary shelter is essential to prevent secondary crises like disease outbreaks. Establishing temporary camps with mobile toilets and securing stable water supplies are urgently required for displaced people.

The People of Myanmar Need Your Help Now

The medical supply package includes essential items like oxygen cylinders, masks, tourniquets, bandages, and medications.

Together, we must show our solidarity with the people of Myanmar – and solidarity must come with action. Please donate today to support workers, activists and community leaders risking their lives to help earthquake survivors in Myanmar.

Donations will be allocated and distributed monthly to ensure sustained support throughout the crisis.
