In a welcome move, Sri Lanka’s Labour Commissioner has agreed to order an inquiry into a complaint filed by Sri Lankan labour unions against the actions of global fashion brands that led to adverse impact for workers in their supply chains. The global brands involved in the case are – Levi Strauss & Co., PVH Corp., ASICS, Columbia Sportswear, and G-III Apparel Group Ltd.
